Seattle Cycling Heat Map 3

Ever wonder which cycling routes through the city are the most popular? I gathered 2000+ Seattle area routes submitted by riders, and loaded them up in PostGIS. The image below is a screen capture from viewing the data in uDig.

Pretty incredible, no? There is no underlying street grid in the graphic. It’s all just people’s rides. I was amazed by how dense it is. Look at how the Burke Gilman and the I90 bridge trails are like a black line. Also you can see some people making crossings on the ferry.

Here’s a detail view — maybe you can guess where it is.
